Durham, N.C. — The Central Pines Regional Council (CPRC) Board of Delegates unanimously adopted the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Budget at their May 27th meeting. The adopted budget totals $36,388,094, with the dues rate for member local governments remaining unchanged. This budget reflects the wind-down of time-limited American Rescue Plan (ARPA)-era programs and the launch of significant new investments, most notably a $10 million state weatherization award.
Fiscal Year 2026–2027 also marks the beginning of a new chapter for Central Pines, with the launch of the 2026-2029 Central Pines Strategic Plan, organized around five new strategic focus areas: 1) Thriving People & Communities, 2) Connected Places, 3) Prosperous & Sustainable Region, 4) Regional Excellence & Innovation, and 5) Organizational Excellence. The Strategic Plan represents a deliberate shift in how Central Pines approaches its work — linking our members’ priorities more clearly to our budget decisions and building a budget that reflects where the Strategic Plan process shows the region needs CPRC services the most. CPRC’s Strategic Plan was adopted by the Board in April 2026, which can be viewed HERE.
