Big challenges don’t stop at community lines—and the best solutions don’t either.

As a resource and support hub for local governments, community members, and partners across Chatham, Durham, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Orange, and Wake counties, we believe that our region thrives when we come together with a common vision and plan for the future.

We advance this goal by developing cost-effective and innovative approaches to implement public programs, advancing partnerships that ensure the continuity of local services, and bringing together local government leaders to learn from one another and grapple with their biggest challenges. As a local government ourselves, we are able to act as an extension of our local governments' staff in any area of work.

For more than five decades, Central Pines Regional Council has been making our region stronger by educating, empowering, and fostering partnerships between our member governments.

Since 1959, our organization has made our region stronger by providing essential planning, technical assistance, grant administration, facilitation, and coordination services across our region. We help towns, cities, and counties tackle big challenges they can’t solve alone—things like planning for growth, improving transportation, preparing for natural disasters, and supporting aging residents – and build targeted expertise to help communities save money, learn from one another, make smarter decisions, and create a better quality of life for everyone in our region.

Pinecone logoEffective September 12, 2023, our organization fully transitioned from Triangle J Council of Governments to Central Pines Regional Council.

Our new name pays homage to the pine tree, which holds great significance in our state as the official state tree. It symbolizes the enduring strength and adaptability that we strive to embody as an organization. Just like the pine tree, we continuously find ways to be relevant and meet the evolving needs of our communities.

Our new visual identity features a pinecone logo that beautifully captures the essence of our brand. It celebrates our Triangle roots while highlighting the vital urban-rural connection that makes our region truly special. The logo's two-sided design incorporates seven triangles, representing our seven counties, emphasizing our commitment to serving each of our communities.
