Built to Solve Problems
Alongside Communities
Central Pines Regional Council is a resource and support hub for local governments and partners across Chatham, Durham, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Orange, and Wake counties. As a member-driven organization, our work is shaped by the real needs of the 50 municipalities and counties we serve, from small towns to major cities, all working together through one shared regional framework.

Governed By and For the Region
Central Pines is governed by a Board of Delegates and Executive Committee made up of elected officials representing each of our 50 member governments across the region. Serving on the board gives local leaders a seat at the table to set regional policy, learn from peers, and shape programming that supports their communities.
Rooted in This Region’s History
Founded in 1959 as the Research Triangle Regional Planning Commission and later known as Triangle J Council of Governments, CPRC rebranded in 2023 to better reflect the full region it serves and its commitment to resilience and shared prosperity. Over more than five decades, the organization has evolved to meet the needs of a region that continues to grow faster than almost anywhere else in the country.
